ft232rl chip programming in C on linux⌗

I worked through a kids science kit, ‘Elektronik Start mit USB’ published by Franzis. The software for it was written for Windows in visual basic. I, laboriously, figured out the corresponding code in C. I share this here purely for academic reasons; the code is cobbled together with no regard for many good coding practices.
